Welcome to Higher Ground Fitness Website!
As a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and strength & conditioning coach, I’ve had the honor and pleasure of bringing my passion for health and fitness to a wide range of athletes both young & younger. As the creator of HGF over the last year, I’ve continued to work hard to provide a comprehensive service that develops a powerful and capable human machine. Driven by the engine of athleticism that exists within us all I’ve been able to help people tap into the best of our physical, mental, and emotional being.
Athletes are the most obvious example of what our athletic engines are capable of doing. The best and most successful athletes are able to train with a combination of intensity, measured progression, and focus that allows them not only to be stronger, faster and more powerful, but also conditions them to prevent and recover from injury. In order to properly fuel this engine, you need to utilize a combination of nutrition and the most efficient and effective training. In putting all the pieces together, you are able to fuse the body and mind to create a machine that can take on the unpredictable challenges life has in store.
Many of us may look upon the athletes we see in sports from little league to the pros and consider that expression of movement & activity to be outside of themselves. They consider themselves comfortable spectators observing with admiration and wonder the extraordinary feats of gifted sports participants. Some people may look at the power and agility of Serena Williams, the speed and mobility of Robert Griffin III or dynamism of Bryce Harper and think to themselves, “I could never do that”. These athletes are the best at what they do only through the training to which they willingly subject themselves. While we may or may not be as athletic as those examples, they are still just like the rest of us, human. They were born with the same biceps, femurs, abdominal muscles, knees, and central nervous system that the rest of us also have. What those people, that we call athletes, have done to separate themselves is to take all of those components of human movement and pushed it to their own ultimate level of performance.
We all have the ability to develop our human machines to a more efficient level of performance that can propel us to a long and healthy life. We are in possession of the most complex & integrated machine in our world. A movement system of muscles, bones, joints, and nerves that are capable of a wide range of physical feats from the mundane to the extraordinary. It allows us to carry our groceries, move furniture or run for the bus, just as much as it allows us to charge to the net in tennis, evade linebackers in football or power a homer in baseball.
Ultimately, the job I take seriously through HGF, is not to make you as good as those athletes are, but to help you be as good as YOU are, to achieve your best physical self. In order to be the best, it’s important to think like the best, eat like the best and, for what I do best, TRAIN LIKE THE BEST! Let’s get started & develop the athlete in you. Once again, welcome to Higher Ground Fitness.
